Coventry football brochureRidleys coaches was the preferred choice of many who travelled to Wembley on Sunday 2nd April to see Coventry City beat Oxford United 2 – 1 in the Checkatrade Trophy Final. Once Coventry City had made it to the final the calls and emails were coming in to our office, as local pubs and clubs looked to arrange a day at Wembley for their customers. Many people that booked one coach with us were soon on the phone booking another, as every football fan in Coventry wanted to be there to relive the excitement of the last time Coventry City were at Wembley 30 years ago.

I’m sure all the fans that travelled to Wembley had a great day, as did all the fans that where there at the old Wembley, to see Coventry City lift the FA cup when they beat Spurs 3 -2 with the famous header from Keith Houchen. It was great to be there as Company and with the joyous fans singing and smiling all the way home, don’t leave it another 30 years Sky Blues!

On Wednesday 29th March nine of Ridleys coaches were Twickenham bound with Warwick School students, teachers and parents as they took part in the NatWest under 18’s School Cup final

This was a successful day for Warwick school as they beat Bishops Wordsworth 27 – 5 securing four tries, the win left their opponents runners up yet again as this was the case in 1991, then Bishop Wordsworth lost the first under 18’s final to King Edward VI School Stratford on Avon. This success for Warwick School was their second under 18’s title as they lifted the trophy in 2007.

We are one of Warwick Schools home to school transport providers and we supply coaches on a regular basis for their school trips, sports fixtures etc. and we were very pleased to be chosen to take them to Twickenham for the Final.

DSCF2657Today saw the arrival of Jordan’s long awaited twins (coaches that is). The 2 identical Volvo B8R Plaxton Panther Executive 57 seat coaches pulled into Ridleys yard at 1.00pm, everyone was anxious to take a look, even more so the drivers who were keen to know which one of them was going to be lucky enough to be allocated one of these brand new vehicles. The coaches have a nice, bright, modern stylish interior and are fitted with toilets.

These 2 new coaches now bring the number in our fleet to 28, as a few weeks ago we were out scouring the country on the lookout for a couple of nice older coaches, we managed to purchase 2 used Volvo B10M Plaxton Premiers which are currently being made ready for the road by our in house mechanics, they are being fully checked serviced & resprayed, and will soon be ready to be in full service for our busy summer months. We have also just had one of on 49 seat coaches back in the yard having been sent away to be converted into a 70 seater.

Whatever the size, whatever the occasion we are bound to have a coach for you!!

DSCF2694As well as all the new coaches arriving we have also  invested in a brand new support vehicle, having just purchased a Ford LWB connect van. Although with nearly half our  fleet soon to be less than 18 months old we are hoping it won’t be called into service to often, but should the need arise our mechanics can reliably get to where you are and soon have your coach back on its way. The main aim of having this support vehicle though is for us to get parts when as and when we need them, rather than have to wait for deliveries, thus keeping any vehicle off the road to a minimum.

New Plaxton Cheetah XL

Our MD Jordan is pictured Monday 11th April taking delivery of our 1st new coach of 2016, the vehicle a 36 seat Mercedes Plaxton Cheetah XL arrived at 12.15pm at Ridleys yard, with a further 5 new coaches due to  join the fleet later in the year. It wasn’t long before the coach was out on the road for its first trip, At 3.00pm Luke was the lucky driver taking it  out for the first time on a local school run

The coach bottom left a Mercedes Unvi (Elizabeth) leaves Ridleys yard for the last time as  the new Mercedes Plaxton Cheetah XL       bottom right (yet to be named) arrives with us.

Ridleys have placed orders for 4 brand new coaches which will arriving this year, we are pleased to say we have 2 x 57 seat executive Plaxton Panthers arriving May 2016 and 2 x 63 seat tri-axle Plaxton Panthers arriving in September 2016. Both of these coaches have the euro 6 engine with the cleanest engine yet! This goes to prove Ridleys are an environmentally friendly company when it comes to purchasing new vehicles and that we go out of our way to source green and environmentally friendly coaches. Plaxton are owed by Alexander Dennis who are a British company based in Scarborough, so as a company we have also taken this into consideration when deciding which new vehicles to purchase.

We are pleased to announce that we have taken on a new a mechanic Marco Serafini to work with Paul and Kevin in our busy garage maintaining the Ridleys fleet and keeping them on the road.
